Puppy check-ups

Puppy check-ups before the puppies go to their new homes should be carried out as close to the date of their leaving their mother as possible to ensure that the health certificate provided by the vet is up to date. Usually puppies are about 6–8 weeks old at this time.

During the check-up, the puppies are examined for hernia, malocclusion of teeth and kinked tails. Male puppies will also have their testicles examined. The vet will also perform a clinical examination involving listening to the puppy’s heart, examining its general health, skin, etc.
